Biography Of Dr. Shawn – The Man Behind Fobia
Former WWE/WCW pro wrestler, chiropractor, lifelong fitness enthusiast, motivational speaker, and now an inspirational comic book SUPERHERO character come to life, Dr Shawn is a man driven to be the best he can at whatever endeavor he pursues. Dr Shawn is best known in the pro wrestling world for his outstanding physique and world class conditioning. Physical fitness and nutrition have been the focal points of Dr Shawn’s life. Before Dr Shawn stepped in a pro wrestling ring, he had been competing in amateur wrestling as a teenager where he was a 3 time provincial champion and national championship silver and bronze medalist. In college at Division 1 Boise State where he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in communication/public relations, he was a two-time Pac 10 runner-up as a heavyweight in the mid-90’s.
Dr Shawn is the only second-generation wrestler of a world champion in WWE today. His father, Stan “The Man” Stasiak, was a dreaded villain in the world of wrestling throughout the 60s and 70s, knocking out many opponents with his famous heart punch finisher. In 1973 Stan became the 5th WWWF world champion. (What is now the WWE). As a youngster, Dr Shawn often traveled to the matches with his burly father, hanging out in the locker rooms with the likes of Rowdy Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant and other stars of the era. It was here that the seed was planted and the initial desire to become a pro wrestling star himself was born, a goal Dr Shawn achieved in 1999 when he burst onto the national scene in the WWE as the character “Meat”. Recruited to the WWE after he sent a video of himself performing a promo from a local TV news station as the character “Fobia”. Dr Shawn underwent a grueling one-year training program at the WWE’s Stamford headquarters to prepare for his new career. Here he trained alongside the likes of some of the most noted wrestlers in history.
During the course of his WWE and WCW career Dr Shawn faced many of the biggest names in wrestling, including The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Mr. Perfect, The Undertaker, Rikishi, Billy Gunn, Road Dog Jesse James, and Kane. In WCW he was a two-time world tag team champion with Chuck Palumbo, managed by former dancing with the stars contestent Stacey Keibler for a tenure, and battled such stars as Kevin Nash, Sting, Bam Bam Bigelow, Dustin Rhodes, and Diamond Dallas Page.
In 2002 Dr Shawn left pro wrestling to attend school to achieve another life-long dream of becoming a chiropractor. He currently is a licensed chiropractor and has a growing practice in the Dallas area.
In 2007, a documentary DVD was released about his life. Called “Shawn Stasiak Determined”. The documentary follows his life journey from growing up the son of a famous pro wrestler to becoming a pro wrestler himself and the transition to becoming a chiropractor and fitness specialist.
A natural entertainer in top condition, Dr Shawn is currently being considered for roles in several films and TV shows in the action and comedy genre.
However, his main focus today is to entertain, inspire, motivate, and educate audiences of all ages at speaking events and venues where he presents himself as the theatrical SUPERHERO character Fobia.
His speaking presentations to elementary, middle, and high schools around the country have been his focal point of interest. His message covers such topics as facing fears to overcome, the positive benefits of exercise and healthy eating habits, living life in excellence, and the topic of bullying that has become a rising epidemic in this country is something Dr Shawn holds near and dear to his heart as he too was bullied as a kid growing up. He knows this issue all too well. Dr Shawn also realizes that our kids today more than ever need role models, leaders and ultimately HERO’s to look up to and to model themselves by. The time is NOW!!!
